Once upon a time, there was Oval and Noval. They were the best of friends.

They liked some colors. Noval liked purple, and Oval liked yellow.

One sunny afternoon, as they played in the garden, Noval exclaimed, "Purple is the best color in the world!" Oval frowned and replied, "No way! Yellow is the best! It's bright and happy."

Their voices grew louder as each tried to convince the other. Soon, they were both upset and turned away from each other, arms crossed.

Suddenly, a gentle rumble of thunder echoed, and a friendly bolt of lightning appeared in the sky. "Hey, you two," Lightning said, "what's all the fuss about?"

Oval and Noval explained their argument. Lightning listened patiently, then smiled. "You know, it's okay to like different things. What you like is called a preference. It's not the same as a fact."

"What's a fact?" Noval asked, curiosity returning to their eyes.

"A fact is something that's true for everyone, like 'the sun rises in the east.' But a preference is something that's true for you, like your favorite color."

Oval thought for a moment. "So, I can think yellow is the best, and Noval can think purple is the best, and that's okay?"

"Exactly!" said Lightning. "You can both have your own favorites and still be friends."

Noval smiled. "I'm sorry for being so stubborn, Oval."

Oval grinned back. "Me too, Noval. I like that we like different things. It makes us special!"

Lightning beamed. "That's the spirit! Differences make the world more colorful."

And from that day on, Oval and Noval celebrated their differences, knowing that friendship is brighter when everyone shines in their own way.
