The Belly and the Members
A musical retelling of Aesop's fable about how every part of a whole contributes to the group
Hands said, "We do all the work!" Mouth said, "I chew till my jaw goes berserk!" Teeth said, "We grind all day long!" They told Belly, "You're lazy and wrong!"
"We won't feed you anymore-- We'll see what a belly's for!"
So Hands stopped lifting the spoon, But one day passed, and then came two, And Hands got shaky, Teeth felt weak-- Legs could barely walk a street.
Then wise old Belly spoke at last: "I turn your food to strength so fast-- I've been helping all along!"
Every part has work to do, Seen or unseen, it's always true. A team works best, you see, When every part works happily!
